If you’re not staying near one of the red line stops, there are buses from all over the city that go to Hollywood. Follow the instructions above for viewing the sign. Turn left onto the sidewalk (Hollywood Bl). To reach Hollywood & Highland by public transit, take the red line metro rail to the Hollywood / Highland stop. (You cannot see Hollywood sign from the rear of the Hollywood & Highland Center Mall because the big tree obscured the sign. When you reach the top, look up and over Johnny Grant Way and you’ll see the sign in the distance. Turn left onto Johnny Grant Way and then make an immediate left up the stairs to the patio level above. This will be the entrance driveway to the Hollywood & Highland Center parking structure (car park) and will be labeled “Johnny Grant Way”. From the northwest corner of Hollywood Bl & Highland Av, walk north on Highland Avenue to the first left-hand turn. By foot, the easiest way to enter this patio area is as follows. The best place to view the sign is from the rear patio on the northeast corner of the mall. The mall is located in Hollywood on the northwest corner of Hollywood Blvd & Highland Avenue. VIEWING SITE #1: Perhaps the easiest place at which to view the sign is from the rear of the Hollywood & Highland Center Mall. The good news is: There are plenty of places at which to view the sign. Because the sign is mounted on the SIDE of Mt Lee, the only way that someone could photograph you next to the sign would be if they were in a helicopter some distance away. In addition, it’s impractical to walk up to the sign because it’s so large (each letter is 45 feet / 14 meters tall) that if you stood in front of it, you would barely cover the very bottom portion of just one of the letters. Note, if you happen to miss Odin St turn, turn left at the light at Highland, and then at the immediate next light, Milner Road, turn left. The exit loops you around and you should continue right onto Odin. If you are going northbound on the Hollywood Freeway (101) you will exit at Odin Street (Exit 9B). Note, if you happen to miss Odin St turn, turn left at the next light, Milner Road, and then turn into the parking lot from that side, drive to front of Barn, and park. Go across Lot D until you get to the front of the Barn, which is about halfway across the lot. This will be just past the Bowl entrance.Īfter making your left turn via the signal arrow, cross Highland Blvd onto Odin Street, and turn right into PARKING LOT D. Pass the first light (which will actually be a freeway entrance) and turn left at the next light, which is ODIN Street. Almost immediately Cahuenga turns into Highland Ave as you go down a hill towards the Hollywood Bowl, which will be on your right. Immediately, as you merge from the off-ramp you join Cahuenga which runs parallel to the 101. If you are arriving via the southbound Hollywood Freeway (101), exit on Highland Ave exit.
